Sequels to popular and successful movies from the past are what the film industry seems to be all about these days, so rumors have appeared about a sequel to the iconic 2002 movie 8 Mile, about the life of rapper Eminem. The film ended with a happy end for Eminem’s character, Jimmy ‘B-Rabbit’ Smith Jr, so a sequel didn’t make much sense to fans.

No 8 Mile Sequel

8 Mile was generally based on the rapper’s life, and people know how the story went after Eminem became popular. Still, when 50 Cent said he was producing a TV series based on the movie and focused on the rap scene in Detroit, rumors skyrocketed that a movie may be in the works. However, these rumors have been around for two decades, and nothing official has been announced.

50 Cent, AKA Curtis Jackson, said his plans were in motion to bring 8 Mile to television. He said it was going to be big and important for Eminem’s legacy. After that and all the rumors, it was about time that some official announcement came from Marshall Mathers himself. So, his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, made a public statement commenting on the situation.

A Sequel Would Spoil the Classic

According to Eminem’s manager, the rapper was very keen to clear the situation up after constantly being asked about a possible 8 Mile sequel. He said there is no sequel in the works and there never will be, plain and simple. It may be for the better because Rosenberg and Eminem aren’t the only ones who think the idea is a bad one. Apparently, Mekhi Phifer has also previously stated that it was best to leave it alone.

It seems that Mekhi Phifer believes 8 Mile has already become a classic movie, and that is enough. He even made sure to say that he wouldn’t take part in a possible reboot or remake and was certain Eminem would share this sentiment.
