The “New” Song Released by Odd Future Turns Out to Be a Fake
Sorry, That New Odd Future Song Is Fake

In August, several members of the L.A. rap collective Odd Future came together at Earl Sweatshirt’s Doris anniversary show, which sparked home among fans for an Odd Future reunion. Then on September 22, a mysterious new song called “New Future Era” showed up on Spotify, causing a lot of excitement before it was exposed as what it was: a lie.

Fake Music Is a Growing Problem

The strangest fact about this “new” song is that it’s just a bunch of random stuff thrown together. It’s 545 seconds long and has some drums and the word “Embarrassing” repeating over and over in different pitches. There are no vocals from Earl, Syd, or Tyler, the Creator, not even fake AI ones, and it reminds fans of the type of trolling Odd Future would have done when they were younger.

People creating fake music by A-list artists has been a growing problem over the last few years. Sure, they use an alias, like a 2018 album supposedly from SZA that showed up under “Sister Solana,” but it’s still an issue. It happened to Beyoncé, too.

Life After Odd Future for Its Members

Former members of Odd Future, like Tyler, the Creator, are very clear that fans shouldn’t expect a reunion, saying that he felt like most members were “past that” when it came to being a part of the group. After all, the members have been doing really well on their own.

Life After Odd Future for Its Members

Jasper Dolphin, Lionel Boyce, and Taco Bennet have joined the acting world. Tyler and Frank Ocean have become big generational stars in the music world, and Syd and Earl have earned critical acclaim. Fans of Odd Future will have to just keep holding out hope.
